We are.................

We had our 20 week ultrasound this week and found out this exciting news. To celebrate we went out a bought her the cutest little, tiny dress!! We couldn't be happier and look forward to all the fun preparations.

A bit of an update....

We've got a lot to catch up on, but we'll get started with November.

November really was a great month. I got to celebrate my birthday with my parents and Jason, which totally topped being all alone last year!

We then had a fun weekend at a residency retreat. The residents first did some team bonding with laser-tag and the spouses went bowling, then we all headed up to Estes Park for the night. A few of us went hiking to get some nice mountain air in our lungs before we headed to dinner. We had a great time with everyone in a non-medical related environment!

Then Jason had a week off so we got to celebrate our anniversary and take a trip to see Jason's family. For our anniversary we went up to the beautiful town of Frisco. It lightly snowed the entire time, and we had such a great time walking around down town and exploring Silverthorn, Dillon, and Breckenridge. We sure do love the mountains, and this was a great place for Jason to do a bit of unwinding.

We then headed to Nevada City to visit Jason's family. Like always, we had tons of fun with them and had to leave too soon! We especially loved our cute little nieces, Haley and Allie. What darling little munchkins they are!

We were able to spend Thanksgiving with my parents, Michelle, and our Aunt Lana. One of Jason's fellow residents, Brian, was also able to come down too. Michelle made me run a 5k Turkey Trot in the morning, then we all just relaxed and enjoyed an amazing meal from my mommy, a perfect day if you ask me.

My sister's famous

I like the feeling of being successful by association. My bigger, but smaller sister is making quite a name for herself. I mean she's always been MY idol, but now the whole world gets to see a little bit more of what I see.

Carolyn is the head coach for BYU-Hawaii's women's soccer team, and they are doing awesome this year! They are first in their conference (first time ever) and 7th in the nation (first time being ranked in the top 25.)

BYU-Hawaii Soccer Gets No. 1 Ranking

At 26, she’s the youngest head soccer coach in the PacWest. But Carolyn Theurer is already one of the most successful.
Theurer coaches the BYU-Hawaii women’s soccer team, and earlier this month she led her Seasiders to a No. 1 ranking in the NCAA Division II west region and a top 10 ranking nationally - both firsts for BYU-H women’s soccer and for the conference.
“I’m shocked,” she says, when I told her the news.
But her team’s performance is anything but shocking. Since she joined the BYU-Hawaii soccer staff three years ago, the Seasiders have finished first in the PacWest title chase (in 2008 when she was an assistant to Justin Wagar), a close runner-up second (in 2009, in her first year as head coach), and are currently first in the conference standings just past the season’s mid-point.
Along the way, they have recorded several shutouts; including a key 0-0 double overtime tie against national powerhouse Seattle Pacific in the first week of the season.
“Our freshman goalie, Megan McCain, has stepped up big time,” Theurer says. But she also quickly gives credit to others - including defender Natasha Aiono, forwards Emily Mearns and Kim Micheletti, and center-back Cami Strait.
“The team chemistry is amazing - we’re so close,” she says. “It’s like no other team I’ve ever been associated with.”
And Theurer has been with some outstanding teams over the years. As a high school and club player in Colorado, her teams were consistently ranked No. 1 or they won the state title. In four years as a forward and centerback for Thunderidge High (in Littleton), her teams lost only two games. She was all-conference the first two years and both all-conference and all-state her last two years. She played collegiately for Utah Valley State.
“I had a passion for the game,” she says. “I got into it when I was only 5 because I wanted to follow in my brother’s footsteps and I did everything he did. Then, it became fun, because we were always winning - and I loved winning. But I also loved my teammates and the team atmosphere.”
Theurer stresses that team atmosphere with the Seasiders, and because of that her team plays better when they’re all on the field together.
“They love doing everything together,” she says, “going to the beach and going hiking, or whatever. They love to go on hikes. During the pre-season, they hiked up to the waterfall at Maunawili. On a recent road trip to play Dixie State, the team spent an off day hiking Snow Canyon near St. George.
Theurer says she learned a lot during her first year as a head coach when the Seasiders missed the conference title due to a key loss against eventual PacWest champion Dixie State. “Last year, I thought about Dixie all year long and this year, we’re just taking it one game at a time. That’s been important for us.”
She’s also let her players relax. “(On the road), I let them sleep a lot. I know from first-hand experience how tough it is,” she says. “Then, they have lots of family time, and then they have a lot of time with their team family. The team needs all of this.”
And if her Seasiders keep winning, BYU-Hawaii could end up as the host for the upcoming NCAA II West Regionals - a historic first for the PacWest. “That’s crazy,” she says. “I never would have dreamed that. But I try not to think that far ahead.”
Pretty wise old words from such a young coach.

Congratulations!

COLORADO

We are now settled into our little home in Greeley Colorado. Jason has been here since the end of June, but I had to stay in SoCal for a couple months to finish nursing school, so I got out here the end of August. My little sister, Michelle, was such a tropper to fly out to Cali and drive with me all the way to Colorado. We pit-stopped in Utah for two weddings, and some great sister time together. She is an angel! It wasn't the easiest two months for Jason and I to be apart, but now that we are here together, I can't even remember how bad it was. We are really loving it out here and are excited for the next three years.

Here are some pics of our little house that was built in 1929, which is way bigger than our 1 bedroom apartment, so it is not fully furnished yet, but we're slowly filling each room. It has so much personality and looks even better in person, so everyone must come visit!

It is so fun being back in Colorado and being able to share all of its beauty with Jason. One of my favorite places to go is Estes Park and Rocky Mountain Nation Park, beacuse it is noce and close. Jason's already been up here several times, but it was the first place we went when I got here. It was drizzling a little bit too, which was so fun...I LOVE the rain, especially the smell of rain....yummmm! We walked around Bear Lake, and up to Nymph Lake as well. (Couldn't disappoint Dad by not getting a picture on "the log" so Jas made me get out there by myself.)

To finish moving into our house, Jason got a week off in September. The first half of the week we Went camping with my mom and pops at Maroon Bells, by Aspen. We first hiked up to Hanging Lake, which was my first time, and it was so gorgeous. My parents were real troupers especially since my dad thought it was a fairly easy hike, which he quickly realized it was not. His memory just isn't as sharp as it used to be ;) To relax and heal from the hike we then headed to Glenwood Springs hot springs, which felt great.

We camped one night with my parents and spent the day walking around Maroon Lake. This has always been one of my absolute favorite places, so it was the first place I wanted to take Jason camping. It did not disappoint. We had a perfectly blue sky, warm weather and great company. My parents left later that afternoon, and Jason and I camped one more night, then hiked to Crater Lake the next day. We got some rain over night and the next day, so the Maroon Bells were not as easy to see, but you know me...I love rain, so we still had a good time. The drive home through Aspen and Independance Pass was one of the most beautiful drives I've ever seen.

I love this state, and I can't wait to see all of its beauty once again.

Little cuties

These are Sara and Jeremy's 4 gorgeous children. We all had so much fun with them this summer. I really don't get to see them enough which makes my heart hurt, because I just love them SO much! Each one has such a unique personality, and they are so close to each other. I hope I can be half the mother my sister is, she is an incredible lady.

Family Reunion

This year we had a family reunion in California. I seriously have the best, funnest, loudest, craziest, happiest, funniest family ever. We crammed in so many fun things in just a weeks time. So I have included TONS of pictures to show everyone just how much fun we had.

On the first day we all met up at the Science Center near USC and watched the Hubble IMAX 3D, 'cause Pops works for Ball Aerospace, the company who built the telescope, so he had lots of insider information to share. Then we headed to a delicious dinner at Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles. This place has the best atmosphere and is a must when in SoCal.

Our next day was spent at Universal Studios. We all had on our matching family reunion shirts...aww how cute!

Day 3: DISNEYLAND!!! All day long! And it was Taylor's 5th birthday. So so SOO much fun. There is something that is just so fun about going to the magic kingdom with my entire family and 4 fun kiddies. We had a blast, and laughed our heads off. The next day we had to say goodbye to Jeremy, and then made a quick trip to the beach, which was kinda a cold and windy day, but everyone made the most of it. The highlight for me was watching my parents play in the waves!! They looked like they were 8 years old again playing in the ocean for the first time...hilarious!

So then after a fun filled time in SoCal, we headed north to Yosemite. We stayed in an amazing house and crammed in all we could up here too. We hiked the mist trail by Vernal Falls, saw Lower Yosemite falls, Bridal Veil Falls, went to Mariposa Grove, stopped at the most gorgeous overlooks of Yosemite Valley, and spent some time at Bass Lake. I love that my family enjoys the outdoors so much. We have done lots of hiking and camping together in some beautiful places, so it was fun to share the beauty of Yosemite with them.

This was seriously one of the best weeks of my life! I love my family so much...they really are my best friends. Even though we are all spread out across the country (Hawaii, Utah, Texas, Colorado, and Massachusetts) We still have such strong relationships. I can't wait till we are all together again!
